The lecture identifies key challenges that AI poses for EU fundamental rights. It argues that these challenges are twofold. On the one hand, it points out issues of a more theoretical nature related to the entire EU fundamental rights framework, such as the limited scope of this framework and unclear relationship with soft-law ethical standards. On the other hand, the lecture draws attention to challenges for specific EU fundamental rights, such as data protection, freedom of expression, freedom of elections and dignity. To grab the attention of the audience, the issues are exemplified with real-life examples.
