Sir Roy Goode’s Final Seminar
Associated people
Last Friday (2 March 2024) Sir Roy Goode gave his last seminar on Transnational Commercial Law in the Ameris Room at Brasenose College.
Roy has been helping the Oxford commercial lawyers tremendously in recent years (particularly following Professor Louise Gullifer’s departure to Cambridge and Professor Ewan McKendrick’s early retirement). He gave lectures and came to all Commercial Law seminars directly after the pandemic and helped Professor Geneviève Helleringer and Thomas Krebs revive a course he once started at Oxford - Transnational Commercial Law (TCL), in 2022.
Having recently turned 90, he has now decided that his teaching days are finally over. After the lecture, Roy signed copies of his many books and had photos taken with students. The TCL students never thought that they would have had the chance to have been taught by who many consider to be the greatest commercial lawyer of his generation. They all appreciated the opportunity very much.
