Text 'The right to be protected from committing suicide' against a background of a closed door and a window

In this book Jonathan argues in favour of a right to be protected from suicide.   The UK's suicide rates do not have to be as high as they are. Suicide should be recognized as a major social justice issue.  Rates of suicide reflect the disadvantages within society. It is among the victims of domestic abuse; welfare recipients; asylum seekers; the LGBT+ community; students and the lonely that we see the highest suicide rates.  This is too often disguised by the medicalization of suicide which sees it as a problem requiring treatment, rather than a breach of human rights requiring a justice intervention.
