Oxford Students Win The Times-2TG National Moot 2024

On Thursday 21st March, Henry Screaton (Magdalen College, History 2018-21) and Nicholas Stone (Harris Manchester College, Jurisprudence 2022-24) won the Times-2TG National Mooting Competition 2024. The Final of this national advocacy competition was held at the News UK headquarters, and was judged by former President of the Supreme Court Lord Neuberger, current Supreme Court judges Lord Leggatt and Lord Lloyd-Jones, and Court of Appeal judge Lady Justice Asplin. The Final problem concerned issues of direct and indirect discrimination in employment under the Equality Act and European Convention on Human Rights, while earlier rounds were concerned with a variety of issues in tort, contract and private international law. The competition is run by 2 Temple Gardens, a leading commercial and civil chambers, in association with The Times. It was entered by more than 130 teams from across the country when the 2023-24 competition began in May 2023.
