Faculty members present at conference convened by UN Office on Drugs and Crime

Between 12 and 14 January 2023, Oxford hosted the Legal Expert Group Meeting / Global Maritime Crime Programme of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Experts from around the world gathered in Oxford to discuss issue papers regarding the law of the sea and the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organised Crime, as well as new chapters to be added to the 3rd edition of UNODC's Manual on Maritime Crime, which aims to assist criminal justice practitioners.

Antonios Tzanakopoulos presented on coastal state jurisdiction in the territorial sea, while Efthymios Papastavridis presented on flag state jurisdiction.

The Legal Expert Group Meeting was held at Keble College and was generously supported by the Faculty of Law and the United Nations.
