Best Dissertation Prize for Lauren Fox

Lauren Fox, a doctoral student in in the Centre for Criminology, has been awarded first place in the postgraduate dissertation competition of the Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law, for her MSc dissertation on ‘The Power of Procedure: Absence, Credibility, and the Scrutiny of Family Ties. An Analysis of Proceedings in UK Immigration and Asylum Tribunals’.

The judges described the dissertation as ‘rigorously researched, well-written, well-structured and easy to follow. There was consensus that it is an exceptional piece of work that contains a wide understanding of theoretical issues and good quality empirical data’. Lauren is now working on revising the dissertation for publication as an article in the Journal.
