Anne Davies elected Fellow of the British Academy

The Faculty of Law congratulates Anne Davies, Professor of Law and Public Policy, on being elected a Fellow of the British Academy.

A previous Dean of the Faculty, Anne is a professorial fellow in law at Brasenose College. Her research in employment law ranges widely across the discipline, including international, European and domestic issues, and she has recently published a book on remedies, entitled Valuing Employment Rights (Hart 2024). She also writes about public law, with a particular focus on government contracts and the delivery of public services. One of her current projects examines the potential for government contracts to be used to set and enforce Net Zero targets.

Anne lectures on Employment Law and Administrative Law on the undergraduate Law programme and teaches Human Rights at Work and Advanced Administrative Law on the BCL/MJur programme.

She is also a non-executive member of the Board of the Parliamentary and Health Services Ombudsman, and a member of the Advisory Panel to the Welsh Language Commissioner. She previously served as an independent member of the Council of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS).

Anne says of this appointment:

To be made a Fellow of the British Academy is a great privilege. I look forward to contributing to the work of the Academy in promoting the humanities and social sciences.

Anne is one of 86 academics who have been elected as Fellows of the British Academy this year. These new Fellows of the British Academy join a community of over 1700 of the leading minds that make up the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences.
