Introduction to research ethics at Oxford

The goals of the session are to understand:

• why Oxford has an ethics review system for research projects involving human participants and personal data;
• what research is reviewed by the Interdivisional Research Ethics Committee for the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH IDREC);
• common ethical issues which arise in relation to University policy; and
• how to write an application for ethical approval.

The session is suitable for graduate students (MA/MPhil and DPhil) and early career research staff, as well as research support staff.

Attendees are welcome to bring applications they intend to submit, and the last part of the session will be available for individual discussion.

Attendees are encouraged to take at least Modules 1- 3 of our free online research integrity course before the training session.
