Globalised Immobility, Borders and Civil Liberties in Lockdown - Border Criminologies 14 May 2020.

The ongoing global pandemic needs no introduction. How we live our lives has, no doubt, been drastically altered. However, the ways in which certain aspects of society have shifted has not had equal implications. Who is governed and how is significantly affected by class, ethnic backgrounds, poverty, region and – importantly – migration status. This Border Criminologies talk discusses the globalised implications of power and control in the context of borders. From immigration detention to tracker apps and other new facets of social controls, this video highlights some of the key concerns facing society today, and considers how we can address them should we finally reach the aftermath of Covid-19.
