Examinations Officer

Grade 6: £29,614 - £35,326 per annum

The Examinations Officer performs a key role in the Law Faculty by undertaking the management of the Faculty’s undergraduate examinations, as well as being involved in processes associated with the Faculty’s taught course examinations more generally.  The role includes significant use of a database, a virtual learning platform, and spreadsheets to transfer, process and manage data and information. 

The postholder has principal responsibility, under the direction of the Academic Administrator and the oversight of the Director of Examinations, for the practical management of all aspects of the undergraduate examinations.  This will include organising and taking minutes, creating timetables, finalising examination papers, receiving marks and inputting them to the examination databases, overseeing the provision of materials in the examination room, drafting and circulating information for candidates, and advising the Director of Examinations and Chairs of Examiners on procedural matters. 

Applicants should have a good level of education, preferably to degree level or equivalent; experience of working in a broadly comparable role; or in some other context which means the candidate meets the criteria listed on the job description; a meticulous eye for detail in the production and revision of written documentation, and in dealing with numerical data; a methodical approach and a capacity to understand, enact and follow procedures consistently; excellent organisational and communication skills, and strong IT skills, preferably including experience of working with databases.

This is a permanent, full time post but candidates should be willing to work longer hours during the busiest time (mid-March to mid-April and mid-May to mid-July).
