About the Speaker

Professor Dr Chiara Zilioli, General Counsel of the European Central Bank, will deliver the Sir Jeremy Lever Lecture, chaired by Sir John Vickers, Warden of All Souls College.

Professor Chiara Zilioli is Director General of the Legal Services for the European Central Bank since 2013, leading a team of about 130 lawyers. She has dedicated her entire working life to Europe. In 1989 she joined the Legal Service of the Council of Ministers in Brussels; in 1995 she moved to the European Monetary Institute, to prepare the Monetary Union, and joined the ECB in 1998 as Head of Division in the Legal Services.

She holds an LL.M. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the European University Institute. In 2016 she was appointed honorary professor of law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Frankfurt. She lectures at the Institute for Law and Finance of that University and at the College européen de Parme of Parma University, Italy. She has published numerous articles and 4 books.
