Abstract

All are welcome to join us for this term's Environmental Law Discussion Group Talk, which will feature Prof. Edwin Woerdman and Manolis Kotzampasakis of Groningen University. They will present their latest research on the legal objectives of the European Union (EU) Emissions Trading System (ETS). Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

The event will explore how climate policies are often evaluated using criteria that do not fully align with their stated aims. By combining legal research methods with insights from economic theory, they have systematically mapped and analyzed the EU ETS. The presented analytical framework is also applicable to further jurisdictions which we will discuss.
