The lecture will develop a comprehensive overview of the criminal justice system in Mexico, focusing on the changes introduce by the 2008 criminal justice reform that transitioned the system from a mixed-inquisitorial to an adversarial and accusatorial framework.

Emphasizing changes related to principles, rights, and procedures, it delves into the historical context, key features of the reformed system, and its implications for justice administration and protection of individual rights. Through an examination of these features, the lecture offers insights into the challenges, achievements, and ongoing developments in Mexico's evolving criminal justice landscape in the regional context. Besides, the lecture will engage in a comparative analysis focused on the adoption of legal figures from the common law into a system from a continental tradition.

This event will be followed by drinks reception and buffet dinner.
