Notes & Changes

This event is open to members of the University, but priority will be given to students and tutors of the Summer School in International Human Rights Law and the MSc in International Human Rights Law. This is an in-person event (though some speakers will join online).

Filmed over ten years at the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture, this intimate documentary, 'Transcendence: Journey of Hope and Healing' — the first of its kind — traces the healing journeys of four asylees who arrive in the U.S. seeking refuge. We follow a Tibetan nun, Chadian human rights advocate, Jamaican gay man, and a survivor of Sierra Leone’s civil war as they work with a team of care partners to overcome unimaginable cruelty, rebuild their lives, and find the strength to speak out against those who terrorized communities in the countries they once called home.
