The Oxford Human Rights Hub is delighted to announce our keynote speaker event for Michaelmas Term 2022: CEDAW, the Law and Intersectionality: Using Legislation to Improve the Health of Women Being Left Behind

In this seminar, chaired by OxHRH Director Professor Sandy Fredman, Dr Janani Shanthosh (Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health) will present the findings of an important report on the implementation of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)’s concluding observations concerning women’s health, having compiled a groundbreaking global database of regulatory responses to women’s health and human rights. Dr Shanthosh will canvas how this report contributes to our understanding of the connection between international law, national laws, and the protection of women’s rights.
