About this course
The MSt in Legal Research and Socio-Legal Research were one year research degrees available until the academic year 2018-19. They involved undertaking a course in legal research methods and writing a 30,000 word thesis and were thus identical to the MPhil in Law but for the fact that the MPhil in Law was restricted to those who had previously completed the BCL, MJur, or MSc in Law and Finance. In 2018-19, the two MSt qualifications were discontinued: the MPhil in Law was made available to all applicants rather than being restricted to those who had first completed the BCL, MJur, or MSc in Law and Finance; and the MSt in Legal Research was replaced by the MPhil in Socio-Legal Research.
