Clifford Chance Law Taster Days - Ambassadors
The Admissions and Outreach Officer is looking up to 8 Law undergraduate students to act as ambassadors to help with the Clifford Chance Law Taster days.
The Ambassadors will work across Monday 17 & Tuesday 18 March 2025 with the possibility of additionally working the online event on 19 March in the evening. (This event takes place during Ramadan and where necessary we can be flexible with work hours, AM / PM shifts etc.)
This is a great opportunity to help the Law Faculty in its Access and Outreach work. The Clifford Chance Law Taster days are aimed at Year 12 students with an interest in Law. The attendees will have the opportunity to experience the University of Oxford and learn about the study of law. Participants have been selected by their school based on academic merit, enthusiasm for law and interest in studying at Oxford. During the event, participants will take part in a range of legal lectures and discussions, information talks about admissions and studying law at Oxford, and each participant will enjoy lunch and a tour of an Oxford college.
Ambassadors will be responsible for:
- Setting up the registration area and register all attendees
- Answering ad hoc questions from students throughout the day
- Guiding students into the Gulbenkian in a timely manner
- Escorting participants safely to Oxford colleges for lunch and tour, ensuring their safe and timely return to the Faculty
- Taking part in an icebreaker – student led activity and Q&A session
- Online session: Ambassadors will take part in Q&A breakout sessions.

Total number of hours of work available: 8 hours per day in-person (17/18 March), 2 hours online (19 March). Ambassadors are not required to be available for all sessions, the application form will take note of your availability. Start date: 17 March 2025

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement or variable hours contract and a right to work check having been carried out by the Faculty Personnel Officer.
Graduate student engagement opportunities in the Faculty of Law usually fall into one of three categories: Research Assistant; Graduate Teaching Assistant; or Blog Editor.
The University guidance on paid work for Oxford graduate students recommends that full-time graduate research students ensure that any paid work should still allow them to spend at least 40 hours per week for a minimum 44 weeks of the year on their studies. Full-time graduate taught students are recommended not to undertake more than 8 hours’ paid work each week during term-time study periods. There are additional rules for students with visas wishing to undertake paid work.
Students may not work for their own supervisor without the approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Students.
Any queries regarding the eligibility of a particular student should be directed to Geraldine Malloy in the Faculty Office.
