Collaboration with Westminster Foundation for Democracy
This is a collaboration between the Parliaments, the Rule of Law and Human Rights project, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, as well as civil society partners and parliamentary human rights committees in six countries, including Georgia, Macedonia, Serbia, Uganda, Ukraine and Tunisia.
The objective of the collaboration is to strengthen parliamentary oversight of governments’ responsibility in meeting its human rights obligations. The Parliaments, the Rule of Law and Human Rights project is working with civil society partners in the six countries to assess the parliaments’ capacity, ability, effectiveness and responsiveness to review legislation for compatibility with human rights and the rule of law. The results of the assessment are then shared with stakeholders from national Parliaments in workshops, and potential actionable steps discussed together with civil society stakeholders as well as the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
