Quentin Cregan

B.Sc (Comp. Sci); LLB(Hons); M.Phil (Law) (Qld); M.Sc (Oxon).
Admitted: Barrister-at-Law (Supreme Court of Queensland, High Court of Australia); Attorney-at-Law (Grand Court of the Cayman Islands).

Quentin’s doctoral research focuses upon the interaction between copyright enforcement regimes with public and procedural law (supervised by Dr. Justine Pila). He has previously offered dissertations on the topics of Legal Ramifications of Information System and Data Security Compromise (M.Phil) and Geospatial Mapping of the Internet (IPv4 and gTLD DNS) (M.Sc). As a practising lawyer, Quentin has acted as counsel in large-scale commercial litigation both in Australia and the Cayman Islands, principally in the areas of corporate, insolvency, private trust and intellectual property. Whilst at the bar in Australia, Quentin was an invited and sessional lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology on the topics of intellectual property, civil procedure and professional practice. He is a member of St. Hilda’s College and on the committee of the MCR. 

Thomas Dysart

Thomas is a DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford working under the supervision of Professor Graeme Dinwoodie. His doctoral research explores the relationship between copyright and contract, focusing on Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) and Creative Commons (CC) licences as mechanisms of private ordering. Thomas completed his undergraduate degree in law at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2012 with First Class Honours. He recently completed the Master of Studies in Legal Research (MSt) at the University of Oxford with a thesis entitled "Enforcing the GNU General Public Licence: Copyright or Contract?" He is a recipient of the Clarendon Fund Scholarship and currently acts as co-convenor for the Intellectual Property Discussion Group (IPDG).

Poorna Mysoor

Poorna is studying for DPhil at the University of Oxford and her doctoral research focuses on implied licence in copyright law. Having received her undergraduate law degree from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Poorna practiced in India as a litigator for a couple of years before moving to London to obtain her LLM from SOAS, University of London with Merit. Subsequently, she moved to Hong Kong and practiced intellectual property law for about 10 years, with a focus on trade mark prosecution and portfolio management, and copyright licensing. Currently, she is on the editorial board as an editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal and convenes the Research Know-how Discussion Group. Being trained in Hindustani (North Indian classical music) classical vocal music for several years, Poorna pursues music as a serious hobby.

Luis Henrique Porangaba

Luis is reading for the MPhil at the University of Oxford and his research focuses on trade mark law. He has been engaged in law practice in Brazilfor the past eight yearsas a litigation lawyer and legal advisorin the field of intellectual property. Luis holds an LLB degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), awarded with a full-tuition scholarship of academic performance, and an MJur degree from the University of Oxford. He is a lecturer of the Intellectual Property Postgraduate Program at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro since 2008. He is a member of Keble College and Vice-President of the MCR.

Karen Walsh

Karen is a D.Phil candidate at the University of Oxford pursuing doctoral research in the area of European Patent Law, under the supervision of Dr. Justine Pila. She holds a Bachelor of Corporate Law and a postgraduate LL.B from the National University of Ireland, Galway. At Queen Mary, University of London, she completed with distinction a Masters in Intellectual Property Law taking courses in IP Transactions, International Trade and IP, and the International and Comparative Law of Patents, Trade Secrets and Related Rights. She was one of the QMUL representatives at the European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN) 2011 Congress. Her interests include the Europeanisation and harmonisation of Intellectual Property Law, Geographical Indications, and the protection of Traditional Knowledge. In her spare time, Karen likes to travel and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Andrea Zappalaglio

Andrea is a DPhil candidate specialised in Intellectual Property Law. He graduated at the University of Milan (1st class cum laude) and earned the LLM Degree at the University College of London (Distinction). His research topic focuses on the Law of Geographical Indications in EU Law and International IP Law. His research interests also include the law and history of the World Trade Organisation, especially in the TRIPs Agreement; trademark law; traditional knowledge, cultural heritage law and international trade law. In 2013 Andrea was awarded the "P. Frassi Prize for Industrial Property Law" by the University of Milan; in 2014 he won the UCL GlaxoSmithKline Prize for Excellence in Intellectual Property and Technology Law. Andrea is also a teaching assistant in International Law at the University of Milan and formercoordinator of the research branch of Action Institute, a leading Italian think-tank specialised in economy, finance and law.
