The sixth Afghanistan Media Law Moot Court Competition also called the Afghanistan National Rounds was held in August 2017.  The oral rounds of the competition took place from 22 – 25 August where all teams gathered to the capital city Kabul. Oral rounds involved 8 universities including Alberoni University, Balkh University, Herat University, Jawzjan University, Kabul University, Kandahar University, Nangarhar University and Takhar University, across the country argued before distinguished benches of judges in English language on a freedom of expression, hate speech and freedom of religion case.

Before the start of preliminary rounds, teams got the opportunity to attend a half day seminar on Oral Advocacy and Q & A session one day before the competition. A number of highly qualified professors and experts of Law and Sharia law with the highly knowledgeable background about the media law and moot court scenarios and issues participated to judge the memorials and oral rounds of the competition.

Internews – Afghanistan has implemented the National Rounds of Moot Court in Afghanistan since 2011. The Internews Media Law and Policy Program Manager, Monir Ahmadi coordinated the national rounds.

Best Speaker in Finals for Afghanistan National Rounds 2017 goes to Horia Azizi from Kabul University
