I studied the BCL at Wadham College. Following the BCL, I completed the BPTC and I am now a pupil at Radcliffe Chambers.

What impact did your scholarship have on you as a student and in your career?

The scholarship gave me financial security as I was going from two years in employment back into study. Further, it gave me the confidence to study at Oxford and go on to apply for pupillage.

What do you enjoy most about studying law in Oxford?

First, the teaching is first rate. The tutors were engaging and really challenged me in seminars and tutorials to develop my own ideas. The opportunity to learn from those at the forefront of their fields was unparalleled.

Second, meeting students who were incredibly motivated and enthusiastic. It was a great opportunity to be able to discuss and debate issues, outside of seminars and tutorials, with students who came from all around the world.

Third, studying in such a beautiful place. Although, it is very easy to forget how amazing and unique some of the surroundings in Oxford are when you are busy preparing for and attending classes.

What do you find most rewarding about your programme?

The course was challenging and so it was a great feeling when a difficult topic or issue fell into place and finally made sense. It was also incredibly rewarding to be able to discuss my written work with experts in their fields.

What advice would you give to a new or prospective student?

There are so many opportunities available and activities to get involved in. It is one of the best times to try something new and get out of your comfort zone.
